The Twain Harte Amateur Neighborhood Kazoo Symphony (T.H.A.N.K.S.)
performs for the 9th year at the Annual Twain Harte Christmas Parade on
12/1/2000. We carry snow shovels with letters (each shovel has two
sided letters) spelling "MERRY CHRISTMAS" going forward, and "HAPPY NEW
YEAR" from the back. We have added a Kazoo Brass Section (trumpet and
trombone kazoos) and a new mascot - an eight foot kazoo (THE BIG TOO DOO
KAZOO). We have added amplified kazoo music to our group, as too many
people confused us with a bunch of bees. We have a dedicated group of
about 30 folks willing to make fools of themselves.
Twain Harte is a small mountain town in the Sierras in California,
population 4000 in the summer, 2000 in the winter. The parade route is
about one block long, ending at Ed's Bar. Sheri and Gary started this
group after attending their first Twain Harte parade and realizing a
parade of two fire trucks and one high school marching band needed a
little help.

The Booze Brothers Kazoo Marching Band and Beer Tasting Society was formed in 1999 for the express purpose of entering the Whitefish, Montana Winter Carnival Parade, which is held over the first weekend of February each year. While inexperience kept us from winning any of the entry awards in 1999, in 2000 we won First Prize in the "Best International Kazoo Marching Band" category because, of course, as Canadians, we were the only qualifying entry. We also succeeded in handing out 250 kazoos and over 80 pounds of candy to the children (and their lovely mothers) each year. There must be more kazoos-per-capita in Whitefish than anywhere else in the world. The band consists of a dozen "grey-hairs" down for the excellent skiing, partying and performing. Look for us again in 2001!

Our Kazoo band, The Jamie Mock Kazoo Orchestra, is one of the hottest upcomming bands in East Tennessee. We currently have five members with the lead kazoo man being myself Jamie. I play the kazoo as well as the tamberine which i duck tape to my leg and the spoons, I also do the majority of the singing. Peter is our bucket drummer, he has great rhythem but lacks disipline. Abe plays the guitar and the banjo, girls do not like banjo players. David is the jaw harpist, he has a wickid mouth. Last is Brian our backup dancer that does our choreography. We are working on our 1st album. We do mostly cover tunes but are working on some original numbers. We mix rock n roll with old fashion kazoo songs. We are the best new kazoo band around and if you disagree you can email me.

On July 4, 2000, the First Night Haddonfield Kazoo Marching Band made its
debut in Haddonfield’s Independence Day parade. (Settled in the mid 1600’s,
Haddonfield New Jersey is a town of about 12,000 people, located about ten
miles east of Philadelphia. Its Independence Day parade is one of the
biggest - and best! - in the region, lasting for nearly an hour and a half.)
The band had 35 members, plus a drum major. We played “76 Trombones”;
“America, the Beautiful”; and “You’re a Grand Old Flag,” We wore blue polo
shirts with the First Night logo embroidered on the left breast (left over
from last year’s First Night event), white shorts/skirts, black belts, white
socks and sneakers, white sashes, and white foam pith helmets with red
ribbons on the brim. Very snappy. We had four practices, over five weeks.
Each was about an 1-1/2 hours long. Most members of the band had never
played kazoos before and few had ever been in a parade, let alone marched in
a band. But we did a great job and got lots of compliments. People were
surprised that a kazoo band could be so good. We also won first prize in the
“best new group” category, but the best reward was having so much fun.
Incidentally, First Night is a family-oriented, alcohol-free celebration of
the arts, held each New Year’s Eve. It was founded in Boston in 1976 by a
group of citizens who wanted to find a way to curb drinking and driving on
New Year’s Eve. First Night celebrations are now held in several hundred
towns and cities around the country. Haddonfield’s inaugural event was in
1998. Both the 1998 and 1999 events were sold out, with more than 7,000
people purchasing admission buttons. The mission of the First Night
Haddonfield Kazoo Marching Band was to publicize the opening day of button
sales, July 4. (More than 500 buttons were purchased, so in that respect too
the band was a great success.) To find out more about First Night generally,

Hello, my kazoo band and I have recently started to play the kazoos at our
children's base-ball games. In fact we have started a trend. More and more
people have gone out and purchased kazoos for the entertainment. We have
even accomplished to get everyone to slop for the National Anthem and to
sing along in our own rendition of "Take Me Out To The Ball Game". It's
great.

We have no name yet; we are tentatively titled Jack Kicks Jill (DMAfhv). We
are a punkrock kazoo band, as goofy as it sounds, we love the idea. We're
debating adding a guitar, but as of now, it's just kazoos and vocals. We are
four high school students- Mike, Will, Ben and Trav, and we love to play gigs
for the school- who hates us!!! Happy kazooing!!!

The Arlington Kazookers are currently the most popular and upcoming band in
the area. Recintly, they were seen touring Yemmin and other country's such as
the United Arab Emrites. This group was made up of hopeless musicians who
found that their true calling was the kazoo. They are pleased to be a part of
such a wonderful trade.

Hello, I'm "Drum & Kazoo Major" Doug, Tri-City Athlete extrodinaire. I come from a small town with big city values, that's right "Basehor, Kansas". Its a small town just outside of the large Metorpolitan City of Tonganoxie,Kansas. When I'm not playing Quarterback for our 5 member football team, well you guessed it, I'm on the field at half time strutting our fancy foot work to the sounds of our 300 plus Basehor Power-Cat Kazoo Auxillary Band. It takes a lot of time and intense effort to pull off a half-time gig such as this in front of 30 Basehor Fans, at times it will mentally and physically drain you. If you ever get to Basehor, stop in and introduce yourself and "jam" with the best. You will play tunes such as Basehor Water Tank Jive, Toot the Flute for Basehor High, and my all-time favorite, "Basehor High's Boot-Scootin Shuffle". You will enjoy the Basehor Alumni Association Dance and Dinner held on May 23rd of each year to commemorate Doug's induction to the Basehor Hall of Fame, Pictures posted at the following area sites Basehor High School, City Hall and Chet's Grocery. This event is normally sold out but advance tickets are on sale through May 23rd. You can purchase tickets at Basehor's Old Town Cafe and recieve a free Kazoo and an autograph picture of ME! If you can't find it just look for the 1981 10A Football Championship Banner over Mainstreet or Highway 1, with you guessed it, "MY PICTURE" on it.
