I'm a street musicians/song writer who uses the kazoo instead of a saxaphone or harmonica while I play guitar or ukulele. My most popular song with kazoo is Purple Bananas (On the moon) which was play on Sly in the Morning when he was on WIBA fm. This song is on my Cat Was Taking A Bath CD which is availible for $12 by sending it to ART PAUL SCHLOSSER/523 West WILSON apartment 203/Madison,WI 53703

Wah Wakoo is the product of a conversation in a pub that went along the lines of "I wonder what a kazoo would sound like when fed through a guitar wah-wah pedal". Two employees of a South Manchester computing firm took this as a challenge, and hence Wah Kazoo was born. At the moment, we are still very much in the experimentation phase, but already our renditions of a classic British TV theme and a 60s hit by the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band are available for download on the web site. Please stop by and offer your comments!

Greetings from the Newfield, NY Faculty Kazoo Band! We have been around since the early 1980's and consist of faculty members/students and community members who show up to our football games and want to have a good time (or look like a fool). We have played at countless home and away games as well and even performed at several Buffalo Bills games (ok, we smuggled in our kazoos and played in the stands...but that still counts). We have a great time wherever we go. We play a wide variety of musical selections at the football games and we play anything from the traditional football fight songs to Beethoven's 5th Symphony, In A Gadda Da Vida, Smoke On The Water, Flintstones Theme and more! Even our newly formed HS pep band shares the bleachers with us. Several years back we were involved in quite the kazoo hoax. As a joke we had printed up a sheet with all of our accomplishments (champions of the Keyser Kazoo Klassic in WV etc.) and this somehow was sent to the organizer of a major US parade who called us to invite us to Florida! Since it was during the school year we could not go.......but we were delighted, because it is the thought that counts! Keep Kazooing, y'all! Sure would be nice to have one huge kazoo festival or parade somewhere (unless one already exists that we don't know about).

Recognizing my passion for the greatest instrument of all time(the kazoo), I built what is, as far as I know, the world's first kazoo suit. With an intricate system of pipes running under my cloths, I was able to control all the kazoos in the four quadrants of my body (upper right/left; lower right/left) with a hose for each quadrant. The results were amazing, and I plan to devise a way to amplify certain kazoos soon. I'm Forming a band, and I hope to put a link up with some of our music soon.

We, the world's best kazoo band, are the Key Strummers. We are a Red Hot Novelty Jazz Band in the spirit of the Hoosier Hotshots, Shorty Long and Spike Jones. Long live the Novelty Song and all other silliness)!

I am the leader of the world famous Ladies of the St. Andrew's Society Kazoo band. We only perform once a year at the society's Ceilidh. We practice once only for the performance and we are just superb.

Howdy:
Are you folks aware that the late humorist Jean Shepherd was probably the greatest kazoo player of the past 50 years and an ardent defender of its use? He played the kazoo nearly every night on his WOR radio program in New York for 20 years, and he even played kazoo on stage at New York's famed Carnegie Hall! Shep was a master and deserves recognition in the kazoo department.

It was as a kazoo player that he was really in his element. In fact, when the New York Times Crossword Puzzle once listed a clue that read "unmusical toy" and the answer turned out to be "kazoo," Shepherd was irate and considered it an insult to the instrument. During his radio program the following night, he urged his listeners to write protest letters to the New York Times Crossword Puzzle Department demanding an apology for insulting the kazoo! The Times received over 50,000 angry letters from Shepherd's fans. The newspaper sent him a written apology which he read over the airwaves.

[In addition to the kazoo and his radio work, Shepherd was also a best selling author ("In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash") and a screenwriter, having written and narrated the motion picture "A Christmas Story," (perhaps the greatest Christmas film ever made) as well as several PBS television specials and series.]

Best Wishes,
Lou Miano

Hey!!! Maybe our info hasn"t reached you yet but we are the BEST Kazoo band you will ever hear!! We have drums and we have bells and and rousing 120(last count) member band . We play every year in our annual St. Patricks Day Parade (a couple of weeks before THE day) Who knows what the weather weather is going to be like? We are located in Binghamton, New York. Join us next year...

THE EUREKA SPRINGS ALL STAR KAZOO AND FREE FORM MARCHING BAND was founded late one cold dark February night in 1996 for the express purpose of marching in that year's St. Patrick's Day parade. Our definition of marching is a group of people heading in approximately the same direction at around the same time, hence Free Form Marching. The band is sponsored by Chelsea's Corner Cafe and Bar in Eureka Springs Arkansas. The only rehersal is held just prior to the parade, in the bar so we are always in fine "Free" form. No one will admit to being the founder or leader of the band because no one wants the responsability (blame). We have been invited to participate in other parades and events but have declined due to disorganization. A remark was overheard after last year's parade that our Kazoo playing was the worst thing ever heard. We knew then that we were finally a success. The post parade pub crawl back to Chelsea's is always the best part because we get lots of free beer by threatening to play for the other patrons. The normal course of events is that we end up with more band members than when we started out.

Name: The Hallelujah Kazoo Choir

Formed: December 2000

History: The Choir was a spin-off group formed during the production of some songs for another group's Christmas album. The band consists of between one and twenty members, depending on season and availablity.

Recent Performances: Our first performance was an attempted crowd-participation bit at a Chicago-Fire game that didn't go as well as planned. More recently, we did some recording, and you can listen to our first two pieces included on Lethargy Tar-Tare's "Frosty's Funky Christmas" by visiting Frosty's Funky Christmas and clicking the links to "Joy to the World" and "What Child is This?"

Future Plans: Work is underway on a full kazoo album that will include "Flight of the Bumblebee," "Under the Hall of the Mountain King," "Bolero," "The 1812 Overture," "Little Wing," "A Fifth of Beethoven" and more (we hope!)
